This is a unique, custom, rare and limited edition pen with an incredible history in WWII.
To compliment my historical and memorabilia pens featuring authentic items embedded into the pen, this handmade limited and rare pen features an actual piece of metal outer skin from a panel replaced during a recent restoration of this aircraft. The metal piece is embedded in a highlighted diamond in the image photo. The metal still has some of the original paint.
Included with the pen is a 2-side foil Certificate of Authenticity documenting where I received this C-47 metal section from and details about this exact aircraft. I only buy from proven trusted sources and private collectors guaranteeing 100% authenticity.
THE HISTORY OF THIS AIRCRAFT from which the embedded metal was acquired makes this pen exceptionally unique, custom and collectable.
This Douglas C-47 aircraft, serial number 42-92847 was the designated lead aircraft of 800 aircraft assigned to drop 13,000 paratroopers over the beaches of France to start the liberation of France in WWII. Before the historic and war changing flight, Lt. Col. John Donelson added to the aircraft nose this painted message "THAT"S ALL - BROTHER". This message was to let Hitler know that Nazi days in Germany were numbered.
This aircraft was used throughout the war, was then used in civilian aviation and later abandoned in 2006. She was rediscovered and rebuilt to be just as she was during the D-Day invasion. The original damaged material from this airplane was from an outer panel replaced during the 2015 restoration. This piece of metal flew over France on D-Day.
