To compliment my historical and memorabilia pens featuring authentic items embedded into the pen, this handmade limited and rare pen features actual metal from the original Doolittle Raid over Tokyo during WWII.
The Doolittle raid was the turning point during the war that gave the U.S. citizens hope that the U.S. military could strike Japan.
Plane number 3 to take off from the aircraft carrier Hornet, was named "Whisky Pete" by the pilot. Like most of the B25 raid bombers, it ran out of fuel over the mountains of China. The crew bailed out just before it crashed. With the aid of villagers who recalled the crash, several years ago an expedition to recover portions of the wrecked airplane was undertaken. The metal pieces were identified by serial numbers, shape, material and paint.
I embedded a small piece of the metal into the pen near the B25 image. The image and authentic metal piece from this airplane are protected by crystal clear acrylic resin. I include a Certificate of Authenticity which includes history of the crew, plane and the raid. The 2 sided Certificate of Authenticity provides additional details and is secured with a foil seal.
The pen components are made with Gun Metal and Chrome for long lasting durability and excellent presentation. To operate, 1/2 twist will extend or retract the easy to find PARKER compatible refill.
